Everything you need to know to attend the FCABC\u2019s BC Fire Expo, Education Summit and Annual Conference!<\/p>\n

The following is a guide to get the most out of this year\u2019s FCABC Conference and Education Summit & BC Fire Expo. Here you will find all the information about what to do and where to go. We hope you will find this guide beneficial. Please let us know if we can improve it.<\/p>\n

\n

BC Fire Expo<\/h2>\n

The BC Fire Expo will open at 10:00 am <\/strong>on Sunday. The BC Fire Expo will close at 1700 hours<\/strong> and re-open Monday morning at 0900 hours<\/strong>. Please plan to attend both days and support our Trades! They provide excellent support for our organization and they would love to meet and talk to each and every one of you.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Bringing a guest or your firefighters?<\/h2>\n

Admittance to the BC Fire Expo is :
\nFREE<\/strong> for “uniformed” firefighters or $10 for others – this does not<\/u> include any meals.
\n <\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

New Members Orientation<\/h2>\n

If you are new to the Association, a newly appointed senior officer, or a first time conference delegate, you should plan on attending this very informative orientation session. This course goes well beyond what happens at the conference and includes information on legislation, training and education as well as the myriad of rules and regulations that face us every day.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is a \u201cmust attend\u201d for any New Chief!\u00a0 There is no charge to attend this session but you must pre-register.<\/em><\/strong>
\n <\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

BC Fire Expo Prize Draws<\/h2>\n

There will be prize draws on both Sunday and Monday with CASH draws taking place as well. The last CASH Draw \u00a0takes place at 1445 hours on Monday on the trade floor. Remember to bring your ticket! You must be in attendance to win!<\/strong>\u00a0 Various prize draws will be made by individual Trades at their respective display booths from time to time throughout the days.\u00a0 The prize winners will be posted at these display booths making the draw(s).\u00a0 The BC Fire Expo officially ends at 1500 hours on Monday<\/strong>.

\n

Regional Managers meeting<\/h2>\n

The Regional District Managers meeting and the Airport Committee will meet at a meeting room at the BC Fire Expo on Monday morning. These meetings are open for any delegate to attend and discuss issues that are relative to these two groups.
\n <\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Diversity and Inclusiveness Committee meeting<\/h2>\n

The Diversity and Inclusiveness Committee meeting will be held on Monday at a meeting room at the BC Fire Expo<\/strong>. This meeting is open for any delegate to attend.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

IAFF Contract Chiefs meeting<\/h2>\n

The IAFF Contract Chiefs meeting will be held on Monday morning at a meeting room at the BC Fire Expo<\/strong>. This meeting is only open to Career Chiefs that manage a department with an IAFF Contract.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Security<\/h2>\n

ALL PERSONS \u2013 wishing to have access to any event, meeting, meals, BC Fire Expo, and receptions must<\/strong> be registered for the FCABC conference.<\/p>\n

The \u201cBC Fire Expo Day Pass\u201d<\/strong>, is so that partners, co-workers, and friends may gain access to these events and facilities without having to be a conference delegate, presenter, BC Fire Expo representative or enrolled in the partners program.<\/p>\n

Please note, there is a separate charge for each day of the BC Fire Expo.\u00a0 No access to the trade floor or\u00a0 receptions will be given to anyone not having the appropriate supplied name badge.\u00a0 Don\u2019t forget to keep it with you at all times.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Registration Desk<\/h2>\n

The registration desk for delegates will be at the BC Fire Expo and will open at 1000 hours on Sunday and will continue to be open for the remainder of the BC Fire Expo before moving to the Education venue.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Opening Ceremonies and
\nMemorial Service<\/h2>\n

(dress \u2013 fire department uniform or suit and tie) <\/strong>
\nThe Opening Ceremonies and Memorial Service are held Monday at 1800 hours with the piping in of the colour party and the dignitaries. After the national anthem, our President will officially declare the conference open and introduce the dignitaries. A conference blessing and brief messages from the dignitaries follows with the Memorial Service recognizing those members and past members and the firefighters that have answered the last alarm in the past year. The opening ceremonies concludes about 1900 hours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Annual Banquet<\/h2>\n

(dress \u2013 fire department uniform or suit and tie) <\/strong>
\nA no host bar will be available before the banquet beginning after the Opening Ceremony<\/strong>. An excellent gourmet dinner is a continuation of the formalities with presentations taking place after dinner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n
\n

Educational Sessions<\/h2>\n

The Education Summit and Annual General Meetings take place at the Education Venue.
\nDress is casual and uniform is not required.
\nWe want you to be comfortable so you learn lots to take home with you.
\nAny Registered Delegate can attend the educational sessions.<\/p>\n

Remember to wear your credentials, those are your entrance pass and a way for others to get to know you! <\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Lunches<\/h2>\n

Lunches are provided each full day. Registered RCOC members will join us on Tuesday. Please let us know if you have any food allergies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Keynotes and Breakout Sessions<\/h2>\n

Educational Sessions start on Tuesday morning. Each year the Education Committee reviews the current trends and tries to match the speakers with those trends. There may be concurrent sessions offered for various time slots and they may or may not be repeated.
\nCheck the current schedule for a list of the speakers and their topics that you plan to attend.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Zone and Sectional Meetings<\/h2>\n

Zone and Sectional Meetings are held during the Education Summit. Don\u2019t forget that elections take place at these meetings too!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Theme Night<\/h2>\n

Our theme night and dinner is enjoyed by all.\u00a0 This is a casual evening so come relaxed.\u00a0 Each and every year the theme night sells out during registration \u2013 so don\u2019t forget to indicate the number of tickets you need when registering.\u00a0 Remember that the 50\/50 draw will have all proceeds going to the FCABC scholarships – and the auction items for the partners program charities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Annual General Meeting<\/h2>\n

Anyone can attend the Annual General Meeting(s), however, only active members in good standing (those that have paid their current year dues) can vote.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Silent Auction<\/h2>\n

Don\u2019t forget to bring an item from your hometown that can be placed in the silent auction.\u00a0 All funds raised (no administration charges) go to charities of the partner\u2019s group choosing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Meals<\/h2>\n

Because of commitments to caterers, all meals must be pre-purchased. There may be a very limited supply of extra tickets available, but there are no guarantees.<\/p>\n

There will be breakfast served on Tuesday to Thursday with coffee\/tea, and snacks served during the Network Breaks. Lunches for the week will be included in your complete package price.<\/p>\n

Please be sure to let us know if you have any special dietary needs, so the caterers can be alerted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
